ECAT is an engineering collage admission test that is held under the supervision of the UET (University of Engineering and Technology).This test is the first step for the admission in the Government colleges for Engineering while this test is not important for the student who want to take admission in Private or semi-Government Universities such as NUST NUMS and so on. How the student Take Admission in ECAT?
The student who passed the FSC pre-Engineering or ICS with the selected subject with at least 60 percent marks are eligible to take admission in ECAT.ECAT preparation is studied by the private academy.
Subjects for ECAT?
The recommended subjects for the Engineering college admission test is
- Chemistry /computer science (for ICS students)
- Physics /statistics (For ICS students)
The test consists of the 100 multiple choice questions which are required to be an attempt in 100 min or 1 hour and 40 minutes. Each question has 4 marks so the total marks of the test are 4*100=400 marks.
Division of Marks
The marks are distributed as explained below
The English subject contains 10 multiple choice questions each question has 4 marks so total marks are 4*10 =40 marks. This 40 marks multiple-choice question is from the comprehension paragraph. We have to read the paragraph and marks the right answer about the question related to the given information in the paragraph.
The mathematics subject contains the 30 multiple choice questions each question has 4 marks so the total marks are 30*4=120 marks. The questions are from both books of mathematics (First part and second).

There is negative marking in the ECAT, negative marking means that if you tick the right answer you obtain 4 marks and if select the wrong answer then you will lose 5 marks (-1 mark is the count for every one wrong answer).
Organization of Exam
The ECAT exam is organized almost 25th of July every year. The student who passed the FSc pre-Engineering (FSc with Mathematics) and the student of ICS are eligible for the ECAT test which is held under the supervision of UET.
Registration of ECAT test?
The UET issues the token almost 30 days ago of the price of almost 500 Rs. The token is purchased by the HBL bank branches recommended by the UET. The token contains the token number which is used when you apply for admission online.
The Result of ECAT is officially announced after the two weeks. But students can check their answers by the key which is uploaded just after the exam.
